I honestly, genuinely, and truly cannot recommend this place enough. I started coming here like, 12 years ago and have always loved it. When I moved away from Richmond six years ago I kept hoping I could find something that could fill the hole, but nothing was ever comparable. I moved back to RVA three years ago and it’s a regular staple in my household now. The pizza is seriously to die for. The New York style is delicious balance of cheese & sauce on top of a perfectly crunchy crust. I love the mozzarella sticks, and my boyfriend will often get the wings along with his half of pizza. They have nearly every topping you can imagine, and I’ll often do a build-your-own-slice for dinner when I don’t feel like cooking. I LOVE pizza, so I consider myself a pretty good judge of what makes a good pie, and don’t get me wrong, there are a few stellar places in the area that could maybe compete. But the thing that really makes Mary Angela’s stand out is the staff. Apart from having delicious food, everyone there is so kind. And I love knowing that I’m supporting a small local business - that is an RVA staple, nonetheless - just makes everything taste that much better. In short, if you’ve

I had not been to Mary Angela's in 28 years. This was a favorite spot of mine through high-school and college at VCU, and I moved away from Richmond in 1998. Fast forward almost 3 decades and I'm back in town with my son to visit his grandparents and he wants pizza. I search for "best gluten-free pizza near me" and Mary Angela's comes back as the highest rated option. Being extremely gluten sensitive, i had not thought of this as an option. The gluten free pizza was amazing and my son's pepperoni on regular crust was exactly like I remembered it being. I can say that the only thing that felt different from 28 years earlier was the flat screen TV and gluten-free pizza being available. Everything else was just as I remembered it being, and that is a wonderful thing. Thank you Mary Angela's for staying perfect.

It was my first time getting pizza from here and it was takeout . It was a gluten-free pizza that was pricey due to the fact that I added extra toppings. The pizza tasted good , although perhaps it would have tasted better if I had dined in, because by the time I got home, I lost some crust because the paper that lined the pizza stuck to the pizza itself and I had to discard pieces of paper-stuck crust. The edges were crispy as you can see but the crust itself was not . It is a good sized pizza .

Super nice staff and fantastic gluten free pizza! It’s hard to find a good GF pizza anywhere, but this place is so good. Buffalo chicken pizza was a hit. I’ll definitely be back for more!

If you stop for pizza anywhere, STOP HERE! The New York Specialty Pizza was the best American pizza I’ve ever had. The pizza had enough support where if I picked it up the toppings stayed on but wasn’t so heavy that I was full after the first two slices. I was able the finish a small pizza and two beers after an hour of sitting and people -watching by the window since I had time to waste. Cathy was my server, and she was so kind and sweet that I would’ve gotten dessert if I wasn’t so full! It was my first time in the area and I had a great experience here!
